Retaining wall in infraworks

Hi,

I am after modelling retaining wall in infraworks and I am not sure this option has been accomodated in Infraworks 360 Rolling sandbox built?

even if there is any option to define an element to work as a retaining wall will also become handy.

Hi Mahdi,

one option that comes to mind would be to use Custom Profiles in your road styles to creat a retaining wall. Another option would be to use land areas and grading to accomplish retaining walls. (watch the Land Areas and Grading Playlist)

You can do the first option by:

1) create a custom profile in SDF format using AutoCAD Map3D or Civil 3D

2) add the custom profile to your road style (you could even remove/hide via transparency other parts of the road style to keep just the retaining wall aka custom profile).

3) sketch/import your road using the style you created.

Thanks for the reply but my question would be, is it retain soil if I put this structure in front of an embankment in my model similar to abutments in bridge modulus or it will be just the appearance of the retaining wall. above picture doesn't have any soil behind it so the photo does not show the case that I am after

Good to see this development into infraworks in future.
Using other product like Civil3D to complete a project, will make the infraworks modeling a bit difficult when a project is into the concept design stage and a quick model is more beneficial.
The whole idea of my question was asking for any solution to see the soil reaction at the end of the retaining walls and wing walls and how it will spill around the end of the walls.

Hi Mahdi,

Thanks for your feedback. I just had a thought -- perhaps you can assign a transparent material to the retaining wall, so that you can see through the wall and to the terrain behind it. You may need to shape the terrain bordering your retaining walls using coverages or land areas.

You could create a custom road style, model a land area and apply a custom grading style. See the attached images for more info.
