Preliminary Grading

I am trying to do some very basic preliminary grading using Land Areas. When I search for help on this I see posts about changing elevations of vertices. I am never able to do this. The best grading I can do is a flat surface and then 3:1 from that surface. I would like to trace an existing terrain that is not level and then grade up or down from that tracing.

I do not see any way to adjust elevations of a land area I place in Infraworks. If I could assign elevations to vertices that would be a huge help.

PS. I never see gizmos when I select land area. Whats up with that. Is that no longer available?

Hi @longislandengineeringllc ,

InfraWorks doesn't have a function to model terrain grading.
I suggest to use Civil 3D to create the grading and grading surface and import that into InfraWork. I think that's the cleanest workflow.

Just thinking loud for a workaround in InfraWorks, maybe you can create a Null-road at the upper border of the grading. Then create a road grading down to existing terrain?

Regards,

Karsten.
