Infraworks 360 demo - can't export data to 3ds Max

Hi all,

I'm currently using the demo version of Infraworks 360, I want to see what the workflow is like from it to 3ds Max, I have found my area and exported to .fbx, the files exported are 2mb for buildings and 10mb for ground. When I import to 3ds Max I get nothing, there is nothing in the scene, don't even get an error message.

Is it a demo restriction or something else? - I have 3ds Max 2015, whether that is something to do with it.

Cheers,

Martin

ok, so I found that it was because I didn't have 3ds Max 2017.

Anyway, I have now got the import but it's in the wrong position, I was exporting a part of Singapore, I made the 'Offset' user defined and 0,0,0, I tried to choose the Singapore coordinate system but was told it's invalid, which one should I choose, when I chose a British one the building and ground layers came in different positions, and neither were at 0,0,0.

Cheers,

Martin

You could export in latitude and longitude

Hi Carrillof,

Thank you, the .obj export worked much better without distortion.

The other query I have is regarding the mesh output, the roads/railways conform to the landform and odd 'rollercoasters', I couldn't include that sort of thing in a visualisation, any tips on improving that? - or is it purely down to the information that Infraworks can extract for certain areas - I've attached 2 images showing the issue.

Cheers,

Marti

HELLO FRIEND; IT IS CORRECT, YOU MIGHT HAVE TO MAKE THE ROAD IN 3D CIVIL AND EXPORT IT TO 3DS MAX TO BE SEPARATE AND THE EXAGEDED ROADS ARE NOT SEEN, WITH INFRAWORKS IT WILL BE FOUND Smiley Sad
