It seems i have run into some weirdness it seems during the install of 2018 it tells you to uninstall previous versions of Infraworks
I did not do this but it does install anyway now i have version 18.0.45.0 and 17.3.133.0 installed but i cannot run them at the same time
You have to close one before opening the other so is this going to cause issues have both installed?

Hi Darren,
yes I believe this may be problematic if common resources and models for both release versions are stored in common file paths. We normally do not advise installing two release builds on the same machine at once. I will check with the product team to provide you some more information on this.
Thanks,
Elliott
That might be a bug with the installer it shouldn't have let you install Infraworks 2018 if you had previous versions of Infraworks 360 installed
I just used the uninstall tool to uninstall Infraworks 360

Hi @DarrenP,
which was the behavior with the previous versions?
I cannot recall.
I.e. I have Rolling Sandbox and the official version and they do not interfere, but I guess it is an issue coming from the fact that they use the same shared resources.

with the different 2017 builds it would actually uninstall the previous build before installing the new one
don't remember what it did going from 2016 to 2017

Hi,
with the 2014 versions you were able to install side by side.
Starting with 2015 until now, only one InfraWorks version is supposed to exist on the computer (and the "extra" Sandbox of course).
Regards,
Karsten.
My desktop App tell me 2018 has been installed, yet I do not see it anywhere on my PC.
2017.3 is still running fine.
It seems yet another bug with the desktop app?
How can we get around this issue?
Hi,
>> I can also confirm there is a side by side installation of InfraWorks 360 2017.3 and InfraWorks 2018.
>> Will check with the team as this is not correct.
I would prefer that this would be officially supported, or at least let the user take the user deside to run a side-by-side config. There are sometime very valid reasons to hold a project at an old version of a program.

I can also confirm my Autodesk Desktop App is saying I already have InfraWorks 2018 installed while I didn't install any new app yet.
My perception at this moment: this is due to the existance of this Registry key coming from the Rolling Sandbox version:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\InfraWorks Rolling Sandbox\Release\18.1.1162.0
Yes, I've now 'manually' installed 2018, working fine alongside 2017.3!
Would be really could if this was the way forward. 🙂
Hi everybody,
I agree with you guys! Especially when you have to work with clients it will take a while to have everybody updated to the latest version.
So it is convenient that we have the possibility to have older version.
This will apply also to other apps, i.e Revit etc.
I think that edit the Registry key is the trigger to enable the "double" installation, or you can go manual in any case.
Best
