INFRAWORKS 2015 RENDERING PROBLEM

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am currently working on a Infraworks 2015 model. It is a big model but not with so much detail as the San Francisco demo model on which basis we purchased the program (that works flawlessly). The model consists of a DEM and aerial photograph as well as shapefiles that I assigned as buildings, 2 rivers and a railway line. The model is further built up by Infraworks models-trees, people, cars and facades. When drawing, I am able to manoeuvre in my model freely and easily when the quality is set to low display quality, as soon as I increase the display quality my mobility within the model is limited, but manageable.I am however unable to render any images. The model only loads up to 90% in the render window and then the program stops working and closes.

I am currently working on a HP Zeon computer with 32 Gb Ram and a Nvidia Quadro K4000 graphics card.

Any help in how I can get my images to render in Infraworks without having to resort to ‘print screen’ will be greatly appreciated.

Ina,

The Quadro K4000 is a capable card, but it's possible to max out the memory and processing capability.  Can you tell me what at what settings you're able to comfortably navigate your model, and which setting(s) or level(s) take it to a point where it's not usable?

You may want to check for and install the latest drivers for your card from HP as a start.

Finally, when "the program stops working and closes" do you see a CER window asking you to submit an error report?  If so, could you submit a report with your email address?  Then send me a private message on this forum with the email address you used and I will look up your crash report to investigate further.

Thanks,

Attached please find a image displaying the graphic settings for comfortable and limited navigation. All of our drivers were updated the beginning of this moth so I believe everything is still up to date.

Unfortunately no CER report can be submitted since Infraworks simple closes with no option to send a report.

How do I send a private message, since the right click 'Send a Message' options says access denied.

I now have a new problem, the model is now unresponsive. As soon as I open the model and start zooming in the attached error occurs and the program closes: Error report CER_117634989

Any chance you can try in a newer 2015.x version, like 2015.3?

Thanks,

Andre

Hello Andre,

I imported a Revit model into the model on Friday and the model was responsive, this morning it was not, I did however suspect the Revit model is the problem and managed to remove it from the Data Sources before the error occurred and the program closes, I thus now have a model that is working but without the needed Revit model.

I will try upgrading and hope it will solve my problem.

Will upgrading to a newer version assist me with the rendering issue that I have as that is my primary issue?

Thanks for the prompt response.

In either case - please let us know, whether upgrading to a version post the 2015.2 release has solved the problem (crash).

@Anonymous

The latest drivers from Nvidia for the Quadro K4000 are version 353.82.  Compare that with the version installed on your system. If the HP drivers are much older than that, you may want to consider contacting them for an update.

As for sending private messages - I see an option in Preferences (see top of this forum page when you are logged in) > Preferences (tab) > Private Messenger (tab) > Turn on private messages.  You may want to turn it on if it is not already.  Then you can hover over my name/avatar and click on "Send message" - if it doesn't you may want to search the forums for the exact error message you receive.

BTW are you, @Anonymous and @Anonymous the same person?  It's not clear to me whether we're dealing with the same problem here or two unrelated issues, each of which deserves it's own thread.

@Anonymous's crash seems to be related to a fix we've made in R2015.3 so upgrading to that should help, as @andre.barth said.

Hello,

Ina and Metroplan1 is one and the same.  I just ran an update on my drivers and hope it will help. I tried to install 2015.3 but got an error, I suspect that I have to uninstall the older versions of Infraworks first before installing this version. Thanks for the help thus far, will let you know if the upgrades solved my problems.

Hello, I updated my drivers and it says it is up to date, but not with your suggested version-so i checked the website and there is an even newer version available. Should I install the suggested one or the newest one?

What Nvidia's web site is showing are two different versions of the driver, i.e. v340 and v352.  v340 is for older cards are not supported by the newer versions of the driver.  Your card seems to be supported by the newer v352 drivers, so once you click "Search" you will see which version can be installed for the combination of your graphics card and operating system.
