Incorrect coordinates when exporting to Navisworks

Hi all

I have a problem with my coordinates when exporting by "Export 3D Model".

After exporting the 3D model I append it in to Navisworks Manage 2015 and the 3D model will be placed around coordinate 0,0, which is wrong.

Does any of you have had the same problem? And how to export in the correct coordinatsystem?

NB! I have checked in Navisworks if the units are correct. And it is.

Best regards Louise

Hi Louise,

the reason why your model is placed around 0,0 in Navisworks is because the FBX file does not save coordinate information.
The only export format currently available in InfraWorks 2015 that carries coordinate information is IMX.
Another way is to open the InfraWorks model in Civil 3D directly, which also uses coordinates. Both ways might not be suitable for 3D models, unfortunately.

For a workaround, write down the coordinates of you 3D model in one place, import the model as FBX in Navisworks and move it to the original coordinates.

Regards,
Karsten.

Hi Louise,

I need to correct my statement I made before. I described the FBX export with standard settings.
There is a way that could work for you to add the FBX file to Navisworks at the correct position.
In the InfraWorks FBX Export Dialog set the export command to user coordinates and zero everything out.

Then, when I import into Civil 3D, make sure to set the correct conversion:
