Imported C3D alignment has incorrect elevations

Hello all,

I have created an alignment from a point file in which each point contains the northing, easting and elevation details. My thoughts were that when I import this alignment into infraworks it should follow the assigned elevations. But that does not seem to be the case as Infraworks totally ignores the elevations assigned to the points. Please help.Attaching the C3D file for your reference.

Hello

C3D Alignment does not contain any elevation data itself if you do not make vertical profile for alignment. you can make a profile for alignment project your points in this profile and make a vertical profile for alignment after you can export it for Infraworks and its done.

Hi @Anonymous ,

@Beka_Tchigladze is correct, a Civil 3D alignment does not contain elevation data.

You need to create a profile for your alignment in Civil 3D. With your XYZ data, it's possible to create a profile with CreateProfileFromFile (Autodesk Civil 3D Help: To Create a Profile From a Profile File).

Regards,

Karsten.

Thank you. Yeah I guessed that is the case. But I wanted to confirm.
