When importing a Civil 3D surface, the surface is usually "smoothed". See image. Blue surface. It should have a flat top and sharp edges.
There used to be a setting NOT to convert to grid. See this link. I no longer see this option.
Is there a way to ensure my C3D surfaces are not grid, but nice, sharp TIN surfaces? Thanks.
Unchecking the box is not converting it to grid.
Thanks. I know. But we don't even have that button anymore that I can tell. It used to be that if I unchecked that button, the surface would not be imported as a grid surface and therefore, a nice TIN. This is what I'm looking for, a good sharp TIN surface and not a smoothed grid, like Infraworks does.
Oh, I see. Hmmm. Never noticed that option was removed.
Have you tried rearranging them in the surface layers? There is a hierarchy. That may be your fix.
Thanks, Todd. Ya, I've tried. No difference. I'll create a case with Autodesk if we can't get it resolved here. I think it looks kind of crappy all smoothed out.
No problem. I'll make sure to escalate the case up to Autodesk when it comes in.
