IFC import in Infraworks

Infraworks import IFC.JPGNavis import IFC.JPG

We are inspecting possibilities of importing IFC in Infraworks. Basically we would like to import pipe system into Infraworks. The problem is that we created some IFC data (i.e. diameters of the pipes) and Navis shows that data (see attached picture). But in Infraworks we can see only geometry, which is correct, but there is no any data (see attached picture). When show the table of IFC file, only one row is showed. There is no difference if in configuration of Infraworks building or pipeline is selected.

Does anybody have experience with IFC in Infraworks.

Currently there is active option in Infraworks to use Navisworks engine for reading IFC file.

Hi Drazen,

You could map some attributes you want to import in the data source conficuration dialog.

For example use the NAME and DESRIPTION propoerties and map them to one you want to import. Just select from the dropdown.

This works for other data sources, not 100% sure for IFC. Just give it a try.

A more advanced way is create a custom schema including custom attributes.

I don't know much about the IFC side of things BUT... in the Screencast below I've got data from a geodatabase and I'm using the DIAMETER attribute of the pipe and also defining the units. You might want to look into your data and see if there are some attributes you can pull information from to set the pipe sizes.
