Harmony and Score

Currently trying to create a airport stimulation, I was told that Harmony and Score would be able to help analyze when the plane depart and land. Does anyone know ANYTHING about the two program? or Anything about Airport Stimulation?

Any input is appreciated!!  Thanks

Hi @imsolo,

i spent 15 minutes looking for any of the two softares that you mentioned, because you raised my curiosity.

What exactly are you looking for?

What do you mean by: does anybody know anything about airport simulation?

something similar to this, but the focus is on the plane traffic, to show the load of an airport

imsolo,

The video you are watching (and sharing) was done in 3ds Max, even the video title says it. Are you familiar with this program?

I am not sure about your original question as it is vague, air traffic analysis is something complex (I worked for over three years as an airport engineer designer in the US), so when you mention "plane traffic analysis", are you referring about departure and approach surfaces? FAA Part 77 surfaces as an example? Object free areas, runway free areas? PAPI's or ILS' aproach analysis? Do you want to model the specific aircraft approaching and landing within the clear and unobstructed areas/volumes?

If you can be more specific with your question, we can help better, nevertheless, if what you want is to model a scene such as the one in the video you shared, I will recommend you to refer to 3ds max training resources such as:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClS3gPxzFYgTUz6JOIruyqA

There is a really good training tool, but this one you have to pay for, and I have used it in the past:

https://www.lynda.com/3ds-Max-tutorials/3ds-Max-2017-Essential-Training/432860-2.html

Keep in mind that 3ds Max (as a software), is Huge man, so you will need to check exactly what is your intended purpose for this visualization you are trying lo learn, as you will not need to learn many things within this program to achieve what you see in the video you posted.

Let me know if this helps budQ

The following is the reply from the Autodesk Infraworks Sales

As far as the simulations are concerned, they are a part of your Infraworks trial versions. They are called mobility simulation and traffic simulation.
Harmony and Score are air traffic solutions independent from Autodesk, those are very complex software packages that are used every day by airports around the world to simulate air traffic arrivals/departures.

We are still not able to generate any plane taking off or landing, so now switching between 3ds Max & Infraworks, to try things out.

Hi @imsolo,

thank you for the clarification.

Vissim is a software that allows you to do traffic simulation, but, afaik, it is only for ground transportation.

With 3ds Max you can do anything you want. It is also used for movies etc. It is not that easy and immediate to learn though.

I see, so are the Harmony and Score not an actual software, as in have you ever heard of it before?

I tried some good amount of time researching for it..

I believe we are now more towards working with 3ds max then import back into Infraworks, with all other architecture elements.

Hi @imsolo,

I've never heard of them. I think that your solution is a smart choice. With 3DS you can do everything you will need.

At your disposal if you need.

Great details, so lets say the concept is to show the airport owner how much is the traffic at such hour, we hope to show the entire airport as a whole, there are no need for specific aircraft/areas. I really hope to know how can it be done on Infraworks alone.

How much can Infraworks offer regarding creating a traffic simulation? I know there are traffic simulation & mobility simulation, do you have any idea how to work solely within the Infraworks?

Hi @imsolo,

do you need to create traffic simulation to see vehicles coming in and out of the airport?

I am aware of the traffic simulation. I am now working on Airport area, so instead of vehicles, I would like to put in Airplanes, and present the traffic of arrival & departure.

Hi @imsolo,

you can put planes from Sketchup also. I think it is one of the easiest way to do that.

You can use traffic simulation from IW360 or some others as said before. For crowds you can use http://golaem.com/
