Creating a model in Infraworks with a custom coordinate system offsetted in Northing

Hi all,

I'm trying to import in Infraworks my Civil 3D model.

The data is offsetted -4000000 in the northing axis and there's a grid scale factor :

All that in the CSRS.UTM-10N coordinate system :

The infraworks model when i import the LandXML file it shoes nothing :

I tried applying an offset in the "Configure" properties of the terrain but without success :

The only way I was able to create a model properly is by moving everything to it's correct spot in Civil 3D before exporting it for Infraworks.

Anyone knows how the heck i can make this work and what am i missing ?

An obviously my manager is pressuring me too, thinking i'm jesus turning water into wine. Meh.

P.S. Thank you in advance ❤️

Little update :

I tried importing the Civil 3D surface instead :
But since it's -4000000 it gives me this message :

Tried offsetting the northing :

But it gives me the same error message

Good news, i've recreated a complete new model without imposing an extent to the project and that did work :

Now i'm trying to drape ECW on the Civil 3D surface but doesn't work nothing happens.
I'm using the same Geo Location information for both.
And both are georeferenced at the same place in Civil 3D so this should work.

Anyone has an idea what i'm missing ?

Hi @cyberflow ,

loading a LandXML file with a surface and shift settings in the configuration dialog is not supported in InfraWorks. It's a product limitation for "terrain", see also https://knowledge.autodesk.com/article/Imported-LandXML-does-not-show-in-Infraworks.

Regarding the ECW import, it could be a file format limitation as well. Can you check the InfraWorks log file after you tried to load the ECW data source? Is there any error?
Log files are in %AppData%\Roaming\Autodesk\Autodesk InfraWorks\logs.

Regards,

Karsten.

Hi @Karsten.Saenger

Thank you for your input, good point to know about LandXML's and using the X and Y positionning.

For the Raster image, i went into the log and there's nothing that appeared in the log file when i imported the information inside my model

So i assume the file format is ok and supported

I've been revising my configurations for each dataset and both have the same Geo Location information :

Terrain (LandXML) :

Raster (ECW) :

The visual i'm seeing :

I've opened Civil 3D to revalidate that the ECW are at the correct position and yes they are

I tried converting the ECW to a GeoTiff

Doesn't show up draped on Infraworks but in Civil 3D everything is ok.

Here's a log printscreen that has more information than when i try to import an ECW Raster :

I can see there's an incompatible CS but i'm using the the same has the project and no the X-Y one

Hi @cyberflow ,

can you send a screenshot of your model properties? I would like to see this:
