You may have been checking out the InfraWorks 360 Gallery and noticed that some of the models have cool 3D floating text in them, typically used to label streets and other objects in the model. How is it created?
The answer is to use AutoCAD or an AutoCAD-based product to do it!
Here are the steps:
- Create the text in AutoCAD using style that is filled in (like Arial, for exmaple)
- Explode the text using the Explode Text command from your Express Tools
- Extrude the text using a height that works well with the size text you created
- Export your extruded text as an FBX file
- Attach the FBX file as a data source in your InfraWorks model
- Rotate the newly created model -90 degrees around the X axis
- Size and position your label as needed
