Actually @KPerison (and Willy) our community site doesn't yet have a dedicated system for wish list items, but we're working on one. You can go ahead and post your list here and we can move it over when that system is ready.

InfraWorks 2015 Wish List

1. Roundabouts and Cul-d-sacs
2. Retaining Walls
3. Site Grading. Similar idea to C3D Grading objects, but able to apply a different material to each grading zone if necessary.
4. Somehow allow roads to interact with a parking area (coverage).
5. Add tools for addition of traffic islands at intersections or points along the road or islands in parking lots.
6. Continuous roadside objects such as barriers with customizable shapes. The current method of inserting a 3Dmodel of a barrier doesn’t work very well when the road has a vertical grade or horizontal curvature. The barriers are not smooth, but very choppy.
7. Allow Tabular input of Horizontal and Vertical alignment data. PI Co-ords, Curve data, azimuths, PVI station/elev, grades, etc.
8. Disable dynamic update of the model when editing Horiz/Vertical alignments until the user is finished making edits, then update. Allow user to toggle dynamic update on/off or manually start an update.
9. If using the Graphical editing with gizmos, combine the PI editing and curve edits into one dialogue.
10. In profile view, show vertical curve length with PI station/elev text.
11. Add ability to change starting station of design road. Or addition of chainage equation.
12. Allow Design Speed changes by curve. Not just applied to entire alignment.
13. Allow Design Roads to be split or keep Design Roads from self-joining when starting a new road from the end of a previous design road. Perhaps only allow it on Horizontal tangents or curves that are not on a vertical curve???
14. Allow design Road to end on a curve or spiral. Or at least the style to be pulled back (see #20/21)
15. Allow Copy/Cut/Paste for Design Roads!!!
16. Add directional grips to Horizontal PI editing that lock the in/out azimuth.
17. Add station tracker to profile and plan views similar to C3D.
18. Add toggle button on the profile view window that would automatically pan/zoom either the plan or profile view to match the extent of what is displayed in the opposite view.
19. Allow a “No Display” style for roads.
20. Allow alignment /style masking similar to C3D.
21. Allow just an alignment to be displayed as a path. No road style or grading, just a polyline that could be fattened, colored, linetype, etc. That could also be profiled just like the Design Road.
22. Add a preferences dialog for the profile display window. Background color, Dsgn profile style, Ex. profile style, Grid spacing, etc.
23. Allow import of ACAD Pline as Design Road Horizontal alignment or 3dPoly as Hor/Vert alignment.  Pline option could include simple curves.
24. Fix Civil3D Dwg import!!! Productivity Pack1 does not work.
25. Allow some sort of material shading style for the Graded Side Slopes of Design Roads to differentiate from the terrain image.
26. Similar to Side slopes, allow a grading slope parameter in cut and fill for the end of a road (graded end slopes) to simulate a head slope with a material style as well. Options to be chamfered or rounded at the corners.
27. Add horizontal/vertical offset and target parameters to the “Create camera path from Design Road” option. Most of the time the camera path desired is not on the road centerline 4” off the terrain surface.
28. Fix IMX import of roads from Civil3D!!!!
29. Add benching and ditching to Roadside grading.
30. Add variable grading slopes based on heights of cut/fill
31. Allow masking of colors in material styles so coverages can be made that have transparent backgrounds.  This would be useful for parking lots where a coverage has been created for the asphalt, but then another coverage is created on top to simulate the painted parking stalls.
32. Create a default setting for coverage vertex radius and a coverage property that can specify a radius and allow individual control of each radius.
33. Allow individual control over what objects are included in IMX Export.
34. Allow individual control over what objects are included in IMX Import. (Not just all roads or all surfaces – separate them by name)
35. Allow rotation of titles or captions.
36. Allow grip movement of titles or captions on screen, not just coding in X,Y offsets.
37. Create settings for default font properties for titles and captions.
38. Allow copy/paste of titles and captions instead of having to create a new on every time. This is annoying since we can’t set a default font!
39. Create a format painter for titles/captions.
40. Create a format painter for object styles.

InfraWorks 2015 – Bridges

1. Deck thickness is not showing up on the asset card. Please fix.
2. Can’t drag a road style zone from the end of a bridge location after it has been set the 1st time? Please fix.
3. Allow definition of custom shape concrete beams.
4. Ability to define “haunching” in Concrete and Steel beam profiles by defining beam depth at ends, middle and quarter points. Option to choose segments as curved or straight.
5. Add more options for bridge structures types like Cable Stayed, Arch, Truss and Suspension. Include various styles of each and various pier designs. For me visual flexibility is much more important than the Qty estimating.

Please complete the outstanding issues currently preventing this product from being as truly functional and useful as your marketing touts. Before investing your time and resources in creating anymore additional features to send out to the public for troubleshooting, focus your efforts on fixing what’s in front of you. This was the same method of product development for Civil3D, it only creates animosity when simple functionality is overlooked in favor of new flashy features.

This is quite a list! Your effort in putting it together and your comments are much appreciated. Are these in order of priority? If not, then can I ask you to arrange them that way? Then we can talk about them top to bottom.

Hmm, thats going to be hard. Right now I love each one equally as they were all an issue at some point during my 1st billable project using IW360.

Btw, I found the 4 IW360 Essentials books you produced very helpful. Highly recommended.

What you want is essentially Civil 3d in an Infraworks wrapper....;)

One more for the list.

Add an option to the Home Page that will allow removal of a model from the list. Currently the only option is to delete it or manually rename the folder you stored the model in locally.  With all the tutorials and test models I've done lately I'm getting quite a few models shown that I don't need shown.

Hi Eric..

My wish list :

1. We can create subset of each layer based on our definition, but the visible option and lock option are not available of each subset. I wish each subset has a visible option and lock option too. It will help improve the performace when you have some 3D models which are very detailed. For now all the buldings use the same switch for on/off.

2. Convert conceptual road to design road options was so helpfull. How about convert from design road back to conceptual road??? Because when road is defined as a design road we cant change the road style anymore. No options to access those properties. If I modify from style pallete all the road that have same style will update also. I only need to change some particular design road.

3. The real offline collaboration. Sharing Model on the same time offline, like revit collaboration. we can share and work on the same model on the same time but not using cloud.

4. Coverage area with drapping image. When i created the coverage area, the satellite imagery does not display anymore in those areas. Can we have an option to displaythe image on the top of coverage area?

5. Animation : Vechile animation (car, train, aircraft, ship and others), Light animation from lamp when we set model to the night time.

6. Flexible camera path on design road animation. As of now default is only in the center of the road along the design road.

7. Display tooltip on animation

8. Publish model. Can we have an option to publish element by element, not the entire model? Because when I tried publish the model it failed even though i have enough space in my account and suddenly my model changed- It reduces the model, displaying only a small part of the model.i could not retain back my original model and luckily i had a back up file of my original moidel which was defected after publishing.

9. Export IMX. When export model into IMx automatically export all of the element of some area which we define. Can we have separate layer as we export fbx file? Because sometime we only required some particular element of model to be export and it will reduce time to export..

10. Render image. Only limited option to produce high quality image from infraworks. In 3Ds max render output will amaze everyone. But some clients required both render from 3dmax and infraworks.

11. History of object in model. I imported one single detailed building that have file size more than 1 GB and then deleted that because of some changes of that 3d model. My file size keep increasing even I deleted the previous one. Imagine if i have several high detailed buildings which need to import and then I need to update those building regarding update from other team? My old model which had more import history around 60 GB. When I created new model with the latest design only 30 GB. 30 GB just wasted. It will be great if when deleted the object also deleted all the related file.

Wish the next version will come with more updates feature

We've recently opened an IdeaStation for InfraWorks 360. @Anonymous and @KPerison please pick out 2 or 3 of your top Items and post them there as individual ideas. Then, encourage others to support your ideas by giving them Kudos and making comments to support them. After a bit of time you can post some of your other ideas but it wouldn't be best to flood the IdeaStation with all of them at once.

Anyone else reading this post is encouraged to participate in the IdeaStation as well.
