At the time of writing, Informed Design automatically generates a thumbnail image of your manufacturing model.
So, how can you improve the thumbnail image, and make it more useful to the Revit user?
The answer is 3D annotations!
A ‘General’ annotation can be used to include data in the thumbnail image. This data can come from iProperties, or Parameters, meaning that it will update with each variant generated.
Dimension annotations can be used to show the dimensions of the design. Dimension annotations can be overridden and used as labels that map to an input, such as ‘HEIGHT’ or ‘WIDTH’.
Leader text can be used to indicate specific features or values.
The 3D Annotations are included in the thumbnail image, allowing the Revit user to understand the effect of changing the inputs on the generated variant. What an improvement!
