Timeline alternative, please?

Editing complex projects requires finding items in the timeline.

In a large project, trying to find a particular entry can be quite difficult.

The tiny icons in the timeline provide no concept of which item is being edited until you highlight them with the mouse.
Although you can use right click options in the browser to find some things in the timeline, not everything can be found that way, and it is a very slow process.

Could we please have an alternative to the timeline that has text descriptions and nesting, more like the browser?

If you're asking for an alternative I suspect you are possibly not following Fusion 360's R.U.L.E #1

The app should just work without forcing users to do things a particular way.

«Rule #1» is just a kludge and following it isn't a panacea that magically fixes everything (particularly squishing a dependency graph down into a linear / 1-D timeline)

Thank you for your idea, the way we use the timeline is at the core of what we do to make certain workflows possible.  For this reason I am archiving this idea.  I have two suggestions of ways to have a smaller timeline. 1 make sure you activate the component that you are editing. 2 create components as separate files and then insert them into a different model, as a more traditional subassembly structure.

AGREED .. the timeline is THE weak link, and there are LOADS of ideas on here to improve it.....

• Group by parts
• Have colour cycling for bodies NOT just components.
• Folders
• Book marks
• Hide hidden icons in time line when body/sketch etc is hidden
