It would be great to be able to select not only a line, but also a point mirror.

It would look like this:

Every element is mirrored over the point (symbolized with the green lines). This results in the same image as when you would rotate copy by 180°.

Ah, that makes sense and seems well defined. But I believe you're correct that this is identical to rotation. What would mirroring give you that a circular pattern would not?

It seems a bit odd to apply the term "mirroring" to an operation that does not reverse chirality.

You are actually right. A circular pattern with 2 instances does exactly
this, so this is superfluous.
Ill discard this idea.
