Project-Wide Parameters

Project-Wide Parameters

Currently parameters are effective only for a single design in a project. It would be nice if there was a way to set up project-wide "override" parameters so that all imported assemblies can access the same set of parameters.

Scenario 1: MANUALLY LINKING PARENT/CHILD PARAMETERS

1. you design a desk in one file with a parameter "desk_width"

2. you design a keyboard tray in a separate file with a parameter "tray_width"

3. you import the keyboard tray into the desk file

4. you set a link between the desk_width and tray_width so that desk_width overrides tray_width

5. the keyboard tray is automatically resized to match the width of the desk

6. changing the desk_width parameter automatically changes the width of the keyboard tray as well

Scenario 2: AUTO-OVERRIDING SAME-NAME PARAMETERS

1. you design a desk in one file with a parameter "width"

2. you design a keyboard tray in a separate file with a parameter "width"

3. you import the keyboard tray into the desk file

4. the desk width parameter automatically overrides the keyboard tray width parameter

5. the keyboard tray is automatically resized to match the width of the desk

6. changing the desk's width parameter automatically changes the width of the keyboard tray as well

7. changing the tray's width parameter turns off the desk's override or there is a switch to toggle the override

etc.
