I am suggesting to add the functionality of copy-paste "portable" projections within a given component, at least in the case where both the parent sketches of the projections, and the sketch showing those same magenta colored projections, are directly contained within the same component.
For example, (see attached Fusion 360 f3d file)
I have 3 sketches residing within a single component. The first two sketches are basic sketches, the third contains projections in magenta color from the first two. When I copy and paste the component containing these sketches into a different design file, the projections in the third sketch of the copied component turn yellow, then green after redefining the sketch plane.
I assume I have to rebuild the projections, because they are lost essentially; no longer linked to the underlying geomerty, and any geometry which I constructed on top of the projections then must be rebuilt as a consequence, at least to avoid the mess of trying to re-connect them one by one.
Why do I bother using projections when I can draw it all on one sketch? Basic answer is reduce complexity and ambiguity of what connects to what, because it is one heck of a messy sketch with all residing in one or even two sketches, due to a whole lot of construction lines.
The projections are there to mask underlying parent geometry which contains complicated contruction lines. The first two sketches are essentially identical rectangles that can rotate around the origin via a parametric angle property. The magenta projections would follow the rotations of both parents respectively, and form a foundation for additional "bridge" geometry which can morph in size and shape as the projected geometry rotates. The bridge geometry creates the final closed shape for use as a body, which is a variable slot with start and end angle parametric property settings.
So the projections are essentially lost, (yellow then green colored) dispite all 3 sketches residing within the same component which was copied and pasted over to the new design project.
I would like projections made and set in a single component to stay there when that component is copied and pasted between design projects.
