Keyboard shortcuts to toggle through variants (originally from lokiidesign)

Keyboard shortcuts to toggle through variants (originally from lokiidesign)

With each subsequent press of a shortcut key it would toggle/cycle through the variants of selected feature cycling through all options in a continuous loop in case you overshoot it. An example as follows:

press C one time  => Centre Diameter Circle

press C one times => 2 Point Circle

press C one times => 3 Point Circle

press C one times => 2 Tangent Circle

press C one times => 3 Tangent Circle

press C one times => Centre Diameter Circle (loop starts again)

This can also be done for other options like, square, arc, etc..

There are a few other threads which discuss keyboard shortcuts.

My comment from another is to make them "context aware" - particularly to differentiate if you're in Sketch mode. So for example:

In Model mode:

F - Fillet Model

B - Box

But it sketch mode:

F - Fillet Sketch

B - Break

I do like your addition of "multiple presses" for other features!

Hi thburn,

Thank you for the suggestion, but this is not something that we plan to implement in the near future.  The same request has been archived here: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/ideastation-request-a-feature-or/keyboard-shortcuts-to-toggle-cycle-th...

The primary concerns is that many commands are ready to accept a value input as soon as they are invoked when an object is pre-selected.  For example, if you select an edge and press the F key, the Fillet command is invoked and the radius value input is active, awaiting you to key in a radius value.  If you were to press the F key again, it would be placed in the radius value input for the active Fillet command (of course "f" is not valid radius, but we accept alpha-numeric input for parameters & equations).

Archiving this request.

Thanks,

Charles

Hi haughec,

thanks for reply, but I don't understand why this idea gets archived.

Already 20 votes within a short time - So users want to see this feature.

And what you explained is not what I meant.
I just want to use the keybaord to quick any easy toggle through the sketch features nothing more.

Anyway you sit at the longer end of the lever 😞
