When adding points for variable fillet the position value is the default (highlighted) option. It would be more efficient if the radius value was the default as the position is not something you'd change very often.
Many thanks for posting this one; I think you're right, switching to the radius value first does seem more sensible. I've logged this with our development team (issue number FUS-15992, for reference) and we'll see if we're able to make this change.
