An option of unequal spacing would enhance the circular pattern function. If I want to create e.g. holes or other objects between “obstacles” on the circular plane, such an option would simplify the work a lot. The obstacles can be e.g. other holes or structures that have been created earlier in the construction process, ether by myself or by other users or it may be an imported geometry.
Suggestion:
The circular pattern function would be extended with an option of unequal spacing. When I want to create a circular pattern, I will first perform exactly as before but when selecting the “unequal spacing option” I will get tools for individually placed copies.
E.g. If you want to create N copies of a hole, these copies will be seen on the circular plane along with an individual dimensional constraint (in this case an angle) together with the current geometry and its obstacles. These dimensional constraints have to be individually adjustable not just by entering a value but also by dragging the dimension with the mouse cursor. Now you will have the opportunity of manually placing the individual copy to a desired position (angle). After that you may fine-tune the angles by entering the final values. However, the work will be simplified and much faster when you visually are ble to find “free” places for the holes. This customized circular pattern could then be used as input to e.g. a rectangular pattern for translations of copies.
The same “unequal spacing” can be used in the Rectangular Pattern. I will post that as a separate idea.
(If using the suppress option the suppressed copies will still be placed at a multiple of the predefined spacing which in turn sets the dimension for the un-suppressed copies and this is not very useful in this case).
