CAM post order by tool

CAM post order by tool

We now have a Reorder to minimize tool changes checkbox, but we really also need an Order by tool checkbox option in PostProcess.

Reasons?  I have multiple operations that I want to happen by senquential tool regardless.  There is no good way to make this happen currently.

Wouldn't this be pretty dangerous?

I mean how does the system know it doesn't cause a crash?

Explain how that is different than it is now.

Machining is a risk.

Managing tool numbers across multiple operations and getting them in sync doesn't happen very easy now.

Say I have 2 ops like this

Op1

t1

t2

t3

t4

t6

t7

Op2

t1

t5

Guess what, the order is

T1

T5

T2

T3

T4

T6

T7

And the only way to change it is with much fiddling.  So I really can't follow the danger here any more than other options we have available.  The system would still follow operation order, but rather than changing operation based on matching tools, it would allow interleaved sequential tool use.  If you have an umbrella tool changer you will totally understand here.

Heh!  I have an umbrella tool changer and I totally get it.  Smiley LOL

To say that the umbrella changers are slow is being nice.  They aren't too bad when changing to an adjacent slot.  But if you have to go from say slot 1 to slot 10 (or 20!) it can really suck up a lot of time.  In a single setup it's easy enough to reorder the operations so that they are done in tool sequential order.  With multiple setups you can't do it.

So if I understand correctly:

Setup1

t1

t2

t3

t4

t6

t7

Setup2

t1

t5

Reorder to minimize tool changes gives:

T1

T5

T2

T3

T4

T6

T7

And you want:

T1

T2

T3

T4

T5

T6

T7

That I understand, but your explanation on the top for me looked like you were asking for this:

Setup1

t1

t7

t1

t4

t1

t2

Setup2

t5

t1

Reorder by tool:

T1

T1

T1

T2

T5

T7

(This is what I read in the " want to happen by senquential tool regardless")

I want this to, but not order by tool, by myself !

I know an other CAM, here i can sort my operations in a list.

The offset (G54/G55...) will switch like it stored in the setup.

In Fusion we can sort by moving operations, that´s ok, but will not work with 2 or more setups.

I tested the automatic feature one time...that´s enough, i will not use it.

Automatic sorting will newer be the same like sorting by humans !
