Welcome to the Revit Ideas Board! Before posting, please read the helpful tips here. Thank you for your Ideas!

Structural column stacks.

There should be an option to keep columns aligned in terms of rotation and position up the levels. With a new command you would pick the first column and then the others whose position and rotation is to be changed to align with it. From then on (until disassociated) when any of those structural columns is moved the structural columns on the other levels will change in line and the user will be warned of this. Could only allow the selection of vertical columns to start with but ultimately even a series of non-vertical columns could be aligned along a given vector up the building.

Keeping differing sections of column concentric up the building is fundamental to people dealing with structures and helps maintain a joined up analytical model. There are two main reason columns need to be split up the model:

1) Column sizes change
2) Analysis program requires columns to be split per level to join column end nodes with slab FEM surface.

Global parameters could achieve some of this perhaps but I think it should be as easy as selecting structural columns you want to link. It may also be that model groups achieves this but then you end up with a large number of those which you have to tab into to get at the column.
