Welcome to the Revit Ideas Board! Before posting, please read the helpful tips here. Thank you for your Ideas!

Family organization

There are particular families that cannot be purged out of Revit. I think it would be nice if the system families are separated somehow in the family tree so that the everyday user doesn’t need to sift through so much content. It would be nice to even have a toggle in the ‘user interface’ to just hide those peripheral items. I’m a mechanical detailer; I don’t need to see floors, railings, roofs, stairs, structural beam systems, etc. I would like the ability to just turn on/off the families that are automatically loaded.

This is excellent - custom sorting abilities in the family section of the project browser (to view elements by system family vs. non-system family or by discipline) would definitely enhance Revit. Thank you so much for the great idea! Best, Emily

Allow some way to sort or only show some of the families that are loaded into the project in order to make it easier to find the families you need.

For example, if a user is creating electrical one-line diagrams, they can turn off the PLC, schematic, north arrow, and other annotation families they don't need right now, making it easier to find the families required for this kind of drawing, and then turn back on or change which pre-set based on what drawing is being worked on.
