Right, that's all well and good. I apologize that my request isn't completely accurate. In this case, setting "temporary view properties" mode on, then doing the "hide element" command should not affect the visibility state instance for that view after the "temporary view properties" are turned off. If you look at how the "temporary view properties" are stated to work ( https://help.autodesk.com/view/RVTLT/2023/ENU/?guid=GUID-C70CAB27-1DBF-4A54-87CA-953DDB223727 ) :
When a template is applied in this mode, visibility and graphic controls can still be individually adjusted. A purple border is applied to the view window to indicate that the temporary view properties mode is active.
Turn off the temporary view properties when no longer needed and the visibility and graphic settings from the assigned template are restored.
When you make an "individual adjustment" (hiding an element, for example), this is not restored when you turn off "temporary view properties". It seems like it would be more intuitive if there were fewer exceptions.
I understand how to use temporary hide command and I use that quite frequently. I'm in the situation where I'm helping someone with their project but in order to get around bugs in their templates and worksets I want to be able to use both functions while also not making my 'Hide Element' permanent in my view (I try to avoid using the 'hide element' command on my functional working views).
And no, I don't want to teach my colleague how to run their project correctly
I would rather get the work done and mind my own projects. I was able to find another way to do what I want, but this is a feature request, not a troubleshooting request.
