There is no good argument for doing this ![]()
Dwg files used to acquire coordinates should alwas be linked Center to center. Then maby moved a little and rotated.
Then you acquire coordinates. Origin and base point stays near the building and if you place survey point in N/S 0.0; E/W 0.0; Elev 0.0 you are able to export to any other application in coordinates.
Tekla is the only program having trouble working with coordinates acquired from a dwg.
The only reason Autodesk opened the limit from 7,5 to 32 km from origin is that no one understands this.
The furter you get from Origin the more inacuate the model gets.
Tips: Always make sure the dwg has a geographical stamp from civil, dwg units are meters/Inches (Then you avoid flacking lines) and make sure the dwg has a limit so you can Zoom All without the building desapears.
AutoCAD and Revit are working in 2 different ways, but they do work great together despite this.
