Beginning to see the "Level-3-BIM" models with everything in them. To that end:

Currently a datum that has an associated view (on or off a sheet) is what makes a level. Working views throw this off and wreck havoc on templates.

  • The Revit Database needs to be able to explicitly set apart datums from levels.
  • 'Sub-levels' or levels dependent on a primary would also be useful to establish groupings and movements (We can do this with locked dimensions - however a more structured approach would bring clarity and permanence)
  • View depth control in recognition of levels
    • Include level with view depths as a checkbox so sub-levels and datums cannot interfere with view depths.
    • Worksets  by discipline should be attached to view templates and view ranges in particular for consideration of view depth and visibility. (I know worksets to control visibility is not the greatest idea.)
  • Ability to sort levels by height, not name, or have a columnar organization to sort by name or elevation on selection.
