Low Voltage Systems Support

There is a set of features I would like to see to support using Revit for Low Voltage Systems -

Fixtures/Equipment

Like lighting, and electrical, a low voltage systems have both fixtures and equipment, but the current categories only allow for fixtures.  Please add the related categories

  • Communications Equipment
  • Data Equipment
  • Security Equipment
  • Telephone Equipment
  • Call System Equipment
  • Fire Alarm Equipment

Control Systems

Lighting, HVAC, probably some other things I'm not thinking of, have LV control systems.  As many have noted in this forum, lighting controls are a lot more than just switches.

Call Systems

It's a pet peeve, but there are a other uses for call systems than just nurses - I realize that health care is a huge percentage of the call system market, but couldn't we generalize this just a little bit and rename it "call systems" and than have user defined systems definitions (see below) for for nurse call, etc.?

Systems definitions

There can be multiple data, or communications systems, or any of the LV systems in a project.  They could arguably be lumped into electrical systems, but it's important that they be something which can be filtered so that they can be shown separately, because different contractors install them.

Circuiting

Data, in particular, but many systems have every fixture/connection point run back to the panel.  So, the way the current circuiting tool works is frustrating to use, to say the least.  Being able to select a lot of fixtures, and connect them all to one device (panel) as individual 'circuits' is critical.  Also critical is the connection of one piece of equipment to another.  Consider your old home entertainment system (before you did everything from your phone via Bluetooth.  How you connected the CD player, TV, speakers etc with the pre-amp, amp and equalizer was important.  Those sort of connections are critical in the set up of all systems, and need to show in the...

Diagrams

This already on the road map for MEP in general, I'm just asking for all of these systems to be included when diagrammatic systems views are finally added (hopefully soon)
