This is ridiculous. Dragging views on top of each other to achieve this is akin to someone telling you that if you want bold face font in your word processor then all you have to do is cut your word out and then paste it as a picture with transparent background over the text and just nudge it until it looks bold. No one would use that word processor.
One of the reasons why I enjoy using Revit is because it's a powerful piece of software that often supports multiple workflows to achieve the same end goal. Versatility and generality is a good thing when implemented well and Revit strikes the balance between generality and utility quite well in my opinion.
But Revit is also full of these crazy workarounds. Kudos to people who are creative enough and patient to come up with these solutions but it is not reasonable in the first place. These basic functions should be available as first class citizens in the software. No workarounds or 3rd party add-ons should be necessary to provide basic functionality.
