Legend component in Schedule

Dear Autodesk,

It would be great if it becomes possible to add a legend component to a schedule. What I mean with this is basically, when you create a schedule you add a 'field' which it automatically generates the legend component, while you can still switch between the view directions.

Of course, there are some ways to accomplish this, like with images. But this is time-consuming and not the optimal way, if legend components in schedules can be added, this has big advantages.

Is there a workaround to show a legend component likewise an image in a schedule ?
Anyway, that's an issue for the next update.

When creating a schedule of elements I often want to include pictures of the shown elements. Its a shame that I need to create these pictures instead of just using the Legend Component "image" like you do on Legends. Please make Legend Component available to schedules also so we dont need to spend extra time on creating pictures of already existing "pictures".

The best example I can come up with for where this functionality would shine is for wall schedules.  There is not a "clean" way to create a wall schedule w/o modeling an instance of every wall type that is desired to populate into said schedule.  Having the ability to create a legend component and a "smart" schedule for those would be great.

Agree with @andrew.freng . This would be very helpful.

Add an option to schedules to include the legend view of a family

For example - a lighting schedule could easily be set up to show the count, description & plan view symbol

There is a workaround that I have discovered.

1. Create your schedule and include an Image field

2. Create an image file of 1 pixel x 1 pixel in photoshop etc.

3.Import and place that image in every row that you want to place the legend view.

4. Start a legend with one component, say a door elevation.

5. Create a sheet and insert the schedule in it.

6. Select the schedule and change the height of the rows to something like 30 for 1 in 100 legends (I am using metric).

7. If necessary split the schedule over a number of sheets.

8. Insert your legend onto the sheet and align the door elevation with the image cell.

9. Activate the legend on the sheet and edit it in the normal way placing the elevations or plan where required. You may need more than one legend if the schedule is split between sheets.

Absolutely!

We're able to add a type image, but that's often used for a picture of the actual item (say a light fixture). Adding the symbol derived from the family is needed. It's a blend between a legend and the schedule.

You could create a single image (symbol and picture side by side), but then this needs to be revised to match the family when updates are made.

How has this not been addressed? There is no good way to make a partition type schedule.

It would be beneficial to have a view like the legend components built into the schedule so for example you can have an automatic updating section of a wall build-up. Currently, you have to use the image field which is annoying as if the wall build-up is updated the image has to be remade and added again.

2024 now. Where is the update making it possible to have legend components as parameters in schedules?

The workarounds leave a lot to be desired, they become a cesspool for errors and wasted time.

@lim.wendy could you give this post from 2016 a boost :manos_unidas_para_la_oración:

Love this! Had similar idea, but here it already is, from eight years ago.

Some extra advantages of allowing legend components in schedules:
-Could use 'filter by sheet' to have legends that update to only the things visible.
-Super useful for interiors: furnishings, materials, ceiling elements - always 100% up to date.

Please Autodesk, we really need this!

Architects needs this for Doors, Walls, Windows, etc.

Structural engineers for Beams, columns, structural connections, rebars, etc,

MEP-engineers for Electrical fixtures, Lightning fixtures, pipes, ducts, plumbing, sprinkler, fittings, accessories, etc.

Landscaping for Lightning fixtures, outdoor furniture, sites and topography

Everybody needs this! So why not implement it?

Dear Autodesk,

It has been almost 9 years since this suggestion was made that it would be a great idea to integrate legend components of doors, windows, or walls into schedules. Could we expect this change in the upcoming updates?
