Create Temporary Dimensions

It would be great if we could create our own temporary dimensions when doing anything that requires dimensions. For example, I was making a sloped roof that I knew the width and height of, relative to the walls but not to it's overhangs. Instead of having me calculate the values for the temporary dimensions Revit creates, let me input the measurements I already know. I could find the hypotenuse length and angle relative to a different slope off screen, or I could just input the vertical and horizontal distances. One time, there were some windos that needed to be spaced a certain distance but no temporary dimensions were being created when I placed the windows. All I could do was create a bunch of arbitrary lines that I could space, align with window, and then delete to make sure my dimensions were correct. Revit already has a feature for annotating dimensions, just let me edit them please!
