A new Product Compatible with Revit
I am an architecture graduate who works in the Facade design and execution industry in Sydney Australia. I have a product idea that will make Autodesk double their profits coming from Revit Software and help spread the software in the non-architectural businesses.
in my field we receive the facade from the architect in terms of Aluminium frame and curtain walls, we design our installation detail and assembly to execute the sub-contract granted to us. in our industry Revit comes somehow effective but not really worth training our staff on it. However, in executing our project, we use Optimisation software provided to us to calculate material quantity, Execution plans, prices, and quotes. one of the most known now is called Softtech V6.
using such software forces us to migrate information from Revit, Autocad and Archicad files recieved by the architect to our Softtech V6 Database to get Materials and needed information.
If Autodesk can contract with another company like Softtech (Despite their bad development team) to make it compatible with Revit for example where we can open the Revit model, specify our facade components and assembly using the optimization and quoting plugin like V6 and obtain our quote, execution plans and so on.
all Aluminium frame industry factories in Australia use the V6, Australia is very well known for its booming construction market and I believe if this Idea was invested in, Everyone will double profits and reduce the time needed to execute subcontracts.
and maybe in the future, this can turn into Revit subcontract plugins where Revit can be used by all construction subcontractor where they can use their plugin to add their execution plan on the architect's Revit file which helps the architect supervise everything from office (reduce site supervision requirements) and help subcontractors achieve their goal with minimal coast and mistakes.
