When copying a REBAR set which is VARYING, it is given another rebar number, even though the dimensions and the rebar distribution is the same. Please make it some that BOTH can be the same number because it is, in fact, the SAME bar.
over the years i have developed a system which allows me to RC detail only 1 layer of reinforcement but counts it as if there were 2 layers. It is very time efficient and easy. However i would prefer if AUTODESK themselves provided a feature fix in this problem.
@CSFrey: Please do share your ideas about rebar layers. I am very interested in that, especially for slab rebars. I've seen rebar layers in Sofistik. I guess rebar layer is some type of parameter, but i can't figure it out. Some youtube guy told me it should be created like a shared parameter, but i don't like that because shared parameters have to be copied on every Revit installation. I would like it to be a project parameter, saved within the project file. Either way, i still can't figure it out.
@ipselute: The idea that i have implemented is that you create a new parameter for all STRUCTURAL rebar inside of your project files. This new parameter should be called "Multiplier". Both should be assigned to the REBAR category of elements. Then you simply edit your Bar bending schedules table to calculate the new number of total bars by multiplying the number of modeled bars by the multiplier parameter it now carries. Hey presto! you have just tricked revit into making it as though there were two layers of rebar i.e Top & bottom even though there is only one.
PS - Make sure your new multiplier parameter is classed as a 'Number'.
AND very important note ! This system will create an extra step in your workflow. As once this is set up correctly, NO REBAR weights and numbers will be correct unless you fill in this field at least with a "1" if it is blank it will incorrectly calculate your bar bending schedule.
Inevitably this will then create a problem with your TAGS and multi-Rebar tags. I dealt with this problem by creating 2 new different tags.
