The newly added the Path of Travel tool has a lot of potential but in its current form there is not much use for it in an architecture firm.
High priority improvements:
- Add the ability toggle orthogonal and organic paths through a type parameter.
- Add the ability to change a single endpoint of the path, not just moving the entire path or redrawing.
- Add yes/no door parameter for egress (similar to room bounding for walls). When a door is placed it can be used for egress until the option is unchecked. This would be very helpful for avoiding the path of travel going through overhead and sliding doors.
- Allow for small grade changes. Many egress paths involve ramps and/or a few stairs to meet grade.
- Adjustable buffer zone. Typically a path of travel needs to be kept away from walls or other obstacles a certain distance.
Low priority improvements:
- Modify end point symbols.
- Allow for large grade changes - or be able to tie multiple paths together. While doing exiting diagrams for multistory spaces (lofted apartments, penthouses, or mezzanines) it would be optimal to have a single path versus having two and adding them.
- Manual override of a path.
- Change the speed at which the traveler can walk.
