Revit Circuits - Bulk Circuit Edit Functionality Improvements
Here's the idea: Provide a special circuit editing interface where you can:
- See all circuits in one place
- Allow moving groups circuits from one panel to another.
- Be able to open the circuits to see connected elements, select them, etc.
- Allow moving elements to other circuits.
- Allow merging circuits together.
- Allow export of circuits to some meta-data format (excel, csv, etc.)
- Allow import of circuit information from meta-data format.
- Allow bulk edits (like select all lighting fixtures in a room or on a floor, of a certain type etc.).
- Bonus: Cloud / Highlight all changed circuits on a plan
- Bonus 2: Cloud a changed circuit in panel schedule
- Bonus 3: Cloud panel schedule loads upstream when they change
Revit's circuiting abilities are one of the best features, but they're nowhere near where they could or should be
Anyone who's gone to construction with a big project knows how hard handling lots of circuits can be. Have you ever had an electrician who re-arranged breakers in the panel (changing all the circuit numbers)? Ever had a vendor say we can't build this panel this way, so you have to split/shrink or reconfigure the panel? These things turn into lots of work.
Right now in Revit you can create a schedule of all revit circuits. However you can't edit from that schedule effectively.
You can also use the Revit systems browser to look inside the electrical subsystems. However you can't really do any editing there either. Best you can do is "show" an item and find it on the plans.
Thanks,
Glen
