Welcome to the Revit Ideas Board! Before posting, please read the helpful tips here. Thank you for your Ideas!

Revamp the user interface of the "Orient to View tool"

The "Orient to View tool" UI does not let you scroll through the views and it is just alphabetical, so you have to hold the button for sometimes minutes and if you let it go the whole thing disappears and you have to start again.

I would suggest either have a simple scroll bar or letting using search the list. Keep in mind that we often have hundred or thousands of views, so scrolling to the end is not going to be fun.

This is one of those interfaces that is deeply flawed and easy to improve.

Also as a side idea, yo should be allowed to use "Orient to view" on Reflected Ceiling plans, even if the 3d view is not "reflected". Reflected Ceiling Plans are one of the hardest types of views to visualize, so this tool would help clarify this.

I've hated that "User Interface" with a red-hot passion since day one!

It shows up in the File...Export menu, too.

I didn't even know that you COULD export a schedule until I accidentally clicked on that tiny, tiny arrow.

And, yes. When you have to scroll through a hundred Elevations, it takes forever.

Yes, large lists of views make this command almost useless. It would be better to use Project Browser, for example:

  1. Open a 3D view;
  2. In Project Manager find the view to orient;
  3. Right click on the found view and select "Orient to View".

@dplumb_BWBR I just reposted that (archived) idea here:
