I agree, this is very important. We use point clouds from a FARO Focus scanner to inspect steel embed plates for placement. In Revit, using a plan view to show the steel at a roof level that slopes from a high to low point, we need differing cut planes (or view ranges) in order to show the point cloud overlaid to the steel model (as-built vs. design).
A plan region will affect the Revit elements and allow us to show the detail desired at the higher and lower points of the roof but the plan region will not affect the cut plane of the point cloud. This needs to be fixed.
