Welcome to the Revit Ideas Board! Before posting, please read the helpful tips here. Thank you for your Ideas!

Design Options and Inserts

The idea has already been posted a couple of times, but they are archived. So lets try again. Working with inserts, like Windows, Doors, Openings etc. in Design Options is no big pleasure. When tried, Revit starts nagging about being unable to place element X in Design Option Y in a wall, floor, roof etc. belonging to the Main Model. The work-around being a copy of that host element into the Design Option. This shouldn't be necessary. Make them inserts behave like Demolished elements. When a window is demolished, the gap is automatically closed with an infill. Why not use the same method for inserts in design options?

I agree, it should be easy to design few openings solutions in a single facade wall in base model.
The same idea should be apllied to toposurface and Building Pad . One toposurface in base model and different Building pad in design options.

My Goal:

3 Version floorplan in an apartment house. The floorplan will change the windowposition but the Outer Walls must stay at place.

Problem:

But actual you must design allso the walls, so that the designoption is for the trashcan.

Solution:

The Designoption must be a Real full Option out of a Full Basepattern. With deleting walls putting new ones into it and give existing walls Doors and windows.

Best regards
