It would be an incredible time saver if once an elevation was created, you were able to lock the crop view of that elevation to its walls and ceiling. This way, as the design and space modifies, the crop view would adjust as well.
I'm not sure that's possible. The same issue goes with Autocad too. Views/Viewports are not object-locked, they are coordinates-locked. Crop views/regions are coordinate-locked too. Your ideea is already implemented in other CAD/BIM software, e.g. DataCAD. It only seems natural to me for the view to follow the objects. Any view or crop adresses some objects not some random spacial coordinates. At least, we should have the option to link a view to a specific object or specific group of objects.
If we can read a reference plan from a plan view to a sheet, then why could we not read other similar objects in elevation views tied to the crop window? However, the likelihood of over-constraining the model would be high.

And they could start by not losing the bottom limit of the viewport every single time you need to adjust a split section. Really, it totally sucks.
