Welcome to the Revit Ideas Board! Before posting, please read the helpful tips here. Thank you for your Ideas!

Globally change Crop View/Crop Region Settings.

Unless I'm missing the setting, it is not possible to edit the crop region globally.

Example:

I'm setting up 100's of interior elevations on Construction Document sheets.

I have to go through each individual view, activate it, then select the crop region and override the setting (line weight in my case).

After about 10 of them, it become very tedious and time consuming.

Suggestion?

Make a global setting, similar to every other override involving line work.

Doing so will allow you to do it once and only have to change/modify the regions associated with plans, etc

OR

Not as good of a solution...Allow regions to be editable outside of an active viewport.

Allowing the user to select multiple views on a sheet and override them all at once VS Overriding them individually.

This is currently achievable through Dynamo: https://forum.dynamobim.com/t/batch-override-lineweights-for-interior-elevation-boundaries/10221

That said - I would prefer to be able to control it in a more native method and in bulk as you mention.  +1

Yes please! I've been struggling with controlling interior elevation cut lines in a non-tedious manner for years.

Could this be controlled through a view template possibly?? That way we could override the crop region linetype in, say, just the interior elevation view template, and VOILA!

You are right. This is infinitely painful. Crop regions should be controlled by subcategories in the object styles / view template.

Currently there is only one way to change the style of crop region lines - by direct graphical override of element in view. This has to be done per view. The tedious nature of this task prevents us from using an existing  feature that can be used to enhance graphic appearance of our projects.

Please add the ability to control the line style of crop regions in the same way that we can control the appearance of other elements: visibility/graphic overrides, object styles and templates.

@Anonymous I think this might be a duplicate post to https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/crop-region-line-styles/idi-p/6330724

Also, more than anything, I wish we could set the linestyles of the crop boundary per edge (like we can do for filled regions). Often we want to have one side of the crop boundary be invisible for elevations.

Enabling the linework tool to work on crop regions might be an alternative for that.

I thought I searched to make sure I wasn't posting dup but obviously not exhaustively enough. This is a duplicate. I'll raise it with the moderators.

I've been waiting for this for 10 years. Please!

Actually, that idea is to be able to allow separate overrides/styles for each segment. Just adding a category to Object Styles is this one:

Globally change Crop View/Crop Region Settings.

and another duplicate of it: Put Crop Region Lines in the Object Styles menu so we can control how they look!

I would add to that making crop region graphics controllable within a template. Whether or not the crop region is visible or the line weight of the crop regions, etc.

Still wanting the functionality in 2020.

In addition to adding it to object styles/view templates, all views that have a visible crop boundary should be overridable.  Inexplicably, plan views don't allow override of color, pattern, weight, halftone.

When placing elevations in 100s of rooms, I have had to open each elevation and manually move the crop size to suit the space id like to see. An ability to change the crop size of all elevations at once would be a welcome addition to revit. Whether it be specifying the heights you wish to see or just changing the size of all cropped views would be beneficial.

@jake.flowersMG7UE please try using Scope Boxes for this. You can place the desired names Scope Boxes in a coordination plan view and associate them with desired views.

Would love this feature.
