I've used such dynamic systems in the past, and they have always presented more problems than solutions.
In most cases they slow the design process as they are constantly checking everything being placed, even when the designer knows it's clear.
Plus in many cases it's more expedient to do a rough design ignoring clashes, especially with minor objects, then gradually refine it, finally alerting others about places where lower priority items need to be moved instead. In short, continuously muttering to the screen "Yes, I *know* it clashes, I'll get to it LATER."
