Hi @dplumb_BWBR,

Sorry but I did use the search and did not find the 3 or 4 ideas regarding this besides the archived "Preserving X_Clip of Imported DWG" which is archived since 2017.  Feel free to merge or post here those :cara_guiñando_un_ojo:

I would like to emphasize that this idea is not (fully) related to cropping drafting views ! Even if this ability would certainly help in that case too and has been mentioned in its comments.

When I must link a subcontractor/partner DWG (C3D sections or profile views, C3D survey showing Togopoints & labels, 2D DWG fabrication details, suspended ceiling layout, manufacturer's face & section views...) in a planview, ceiling view or section as @lionel.kai wrote we are not able to clip/crop the linked data on what must be shown in our view.

It is AGAINST BIM philosophy (and efficiency/accountability/legality) to modify someone's data... hence the linking procedure we all use since decades ! So the actual workflow which requires duplicating the source (and maintained) DWG to unclip, explode and chop its blocks (to remove remote objects/origins) then wblock in separate DWGs each "region" which should appear independently in our different views,... is NOT a valid BIM process. @olivierbayle4523 can confirm that this is certainly valid when dealing with infrastructure subcontractors.

What we do need is the ability to link a CAD (in current view only) and clip the instance (can be many instances of the same DWG-link put on the same view like Lionel explained in case of several details placed along each other in the source DWG which did not required real-world coords on the side of the originator).
