Revit - Downipes

The downpipe components in revit need improving.

To reduce modelling time I need a revit family that allows for complete choice of geometry (heights, offset angles) & profle selection (circular, rectangular or square).

Are you talking about rainwater leader/downspout? If so, then this isn't really something for Revit developers to work on. This is a content issue.

If you need a new family, then make a new family....

Thank you for your reply.
Autodesk products are not cheap & standard families do come with revit, some of which lack flexibility.
The idea's forum is there for good reason & I only ask that Autodesk respect the feedback.

My apologies. I certainly don't mean to suggest that your idea is a bad one. In fact, it's a good one. I agree that Autodesk should provide us a lot more families in the default Library. Heck, I wish they would have provided me a Mechanical Equipment family for this Chiller, shown here in red.

I want a Chiller family that can be flexible so I just have the one family to represent any brand, any configuration, any size, any manufacturer's options, etc. Sounds good, right?

It's just that families provided by someone else will almost always lack flexibility in some way relative to how YOU think it ought to be. I mean, is it even possible to make a reasonable family that would be properly useful for everybody all the time? Like, can a downspout family be all possible materials? Can it be all possible profiles? Can it assume all possible routing paths?

You've basically outlined a downspout family that YOU want to satisfy your own particular requirements. What about oval profiles? What about ribbed sheet metal? What about ceramic tile? What about bell and socket? What about ornamental bronze? How many bends should it have? Should bend fittings be modeled as unique elements, or should the whole thing just be a simple sweep? What discharge conditions should be accounted for?

I'm simply suggesting - in the spirit of attempting to be helpful - that you would be much better served by quickly making your own family to suit your needs, as I made the above Chiller to suit my needs.

If I'm out of line with that advice, please forgive me.
