AUTOCAD IMPORT LINES

Please give revit the option to use Revit line types when we import DWGs.

Everytime we import a dwg into revit, the line types window gets messy and contaminated with all the useless line types from Autocad. It would be frate to prevent this in the import window, and maybe having a dialog to substitute cad line types to revit line types one by one.

It's not very cool to change all DWG lines to layer 0 before importing to prevent this, because we lose all the linework that the cad file already has. Also, linking is a good practice, but sometimes it's just not the best / faster approach.

Thanks!

I'm asking myself: why are the linetypes different anyway?

Both products are from Autodesk. So why don't  they reuse existing techniques so that sharing data would work as a charm?

No! The wheel has to be invented again. This produces difficulties in data Exchange because even it is a real dwg, it has non standard hatches and line types for a standard dwg and this out of their own Company. If this happens by tools from third Party companies, okay. But Autodesk <-> Autodesk? Why?

This is a No Go!

The dwg export is so awful that there is a second dwg export tool only for the region Germany, Austria and Switzerland... That this is necessary is quiet sad.

importing DWG's directly in Revit is a bad idea for multiple reasons. It's a bettre procedure if you put the DWG in a family and import it as a family. This however cumbersome...

I'm aware of this procedure. Still, importing DWG should be highly improved.
