Swarf Toolpath gneration

I am trying to generate a swarf tool path.  If I select 4 Faces (shown below in blue) the tool path generates and looks good in Sim.  If I add the 5th Face (highlighted in yellow) the tool path does NOT generate.  

To attempt to fix this I have tried creating an offset (0.0 offset) surface without the "notch" in it to see if that was holding up the works and selecting the un notched surface did not generate a tool path.

Hi @Anonymous,

 

Can you please share your file?
The solution of creating that offset Surface is correct, but I like to see what the problem is.

Seeing the picture I think It shouldn't be a problem to swarf a toolpath up on a created surface.


Within Fusion 360, choose File > Export and save it on your desktop.
After that upload it to this topic so that one of us can take a look at it.

Can you post the file or a similar one? And what tool geometry you are wanting to use.

I attached a very basic part that would illustrate what I am trying to do (Pay no mind to the dimensions of the demo, they where random)

 

I would like to use a standard end mill, and rotate the endmill through the radius.  I understand doing so will cause some gouging in the center of the slot but that may be acceptable.  I can not locate a 3" milling cutter with an arbor small enough to allow me to reach the intended cut depth,

Is this like what you  are trying to do? I added a second contour for the path to follow. Note, there is some gouging at the bottom of the cut, but the concept is workable.

That may work.  Is this strictly a 3 axis solution tool path?  In my head I was thinking is that the tool would remain relatively motionless in Z, while the 4th or 5th rotated around to make the cut.  In reality it may be just easier to run 3 axis.  

 

The demonstrated tool path is cutting in orientation that I was expecting though if thats your question
