I tried saving the stock model after I ran the first OP in CAM. It only gave me the option to save it as an .stl mesh file.
Why cant we save it as an .ipt?
After saving as an .stl, I converted that to an .ipt. But to my surprise, the .ipt file was 130.126 Inches long, when the original .ipt file was 130mm long. So I deleted that and started over.
I imported the .stl, and went into options, changed it to mm, and then saved.
The file was still oversized. This feature is worthless until you can import the exact size as original.
It would be nice to just save as your next stock, name it, and done.
Autodesk need to work on this. Fine tuning this feature to work properly would save me ALOT of time in making models for the setup operator.
Remember... On the shop floor... VISUAL is everything. A picture speaks 1000 words.
What are your thoughts on this?
Standard stock box, no additional stock on sides.
Measuring Original .ipt = 130mm in X
After OP1
No "Options" box available when saving. Autodesk should add it.
After saving .stl file. Why STL ? Why not IPT? Why wrong size?
