Parallel strategy faulty toolpath

Dear HSM community,

in my recent part, I noticed a very strange fault within the parallel toolpath.

When I simulate the toolpath, it looks like this:

F360 simulationF360 simulation

When machining this part, the machine behaved strangely (or so I thought). After checking all settings again, I tried comparing the simulation with NCViewer. This is what I get there:

NCViewer simNCViewer sim

As you can see, the toolpaths clearly do not match. I have a customized post processor for my EMCO ConceptMill 250, which is a HMIOperate type controll. It is based on Autodesk's provided Siemens Sinumerik 840D. Both post processors return the same ncviewer simulation.

What went wrong?

Best,

Moritz

Can you share the file or at least the g-code?

What flavor of HSM are you using, Fusion, Inventor, HSMWorks?

Of course - please see attached file.

EDIT: The plattform is Fusion 360, and the forum won't let me upload my .mpf file (gcode). The parallel toolpath is the last in the Setup.

Moritz

Here is a suggestion.

turn the path 90 degrees you'll get a nicer part and the all the steps are linear.

this may help you get around the current issue until fixed, but still it's a better way IMO.

I agree with @lenny_1962 . However, another suggestion would be to turn off Smoothing. This is what I get with it off:

Granted, it's almost 2.25 times the size of code....

I think this is a post process issue. I will raise it with that team and get back to you

Thank you both for your answers.

The non-smoothing setting fixed the issue - however, my machine is very sensitive to loads of code, so I won't be using that. Instead, the 90 degree variant sounds pracitcal - I will try that.

Thank you!

Moritz

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

I´ve updated all generic siemens posts regarding arcs on non XY planes. The output of your sample file looks now correct. Maybe you have a chance to double check that with the simulation on the control directly.

Thanks! Awesome to see that even after such a long time you guys still work on that.

I do no longer have access to the machine, but I may be able to get a Sinumerik simulation software. I will try to check it out.

Best,

Moritz
