Make Sharp Corners in Turning

So I'm trying to eliminate arcs in rough turning toolpaths and did notice an option under the Compare & Edit dialogue called Make Sharp Corners. I expected this to work as it does in milling, but it seems to have zero effect. This would make the code at the machine much simpler for the operator to make adjustments on or just following the coded toolpath.

This has Make Sharp Corners turned on:

The behavior from this setting is what Scott Moyse is describing, it is for keeping inner corners sharp when using in control or wear compensation.

We are considering adding a setting for sharp outer corners in turning. The reference CAM-8283 can be used to track the new feature for sharp outer corners.

Hi Björn,

I would love to see a sharp corners in turning as it would simplify code immensely.

That said, I don't think the current intent is clear at all, but I can consider that my own mistake.

There are a number of issues when using compensation for turning. I was hoping to work on it for the R3 release - but didnt make it. Instead I will see if it can be done for R4. The issues mainly come down to how you measure the tool on the lathe - and this then have implications for which settings make sense for compensation. So I intend to disable a lot of settings that are not appropriate for this mode. And the sharp (inner) corner feature is one of them.

It does make sense to have a sharp corner feature for the outer corners. But this is not something we support at the moment. But Bjoern created the ticket for it for future consideration.

I though I had given you Kudo's,

But there is no competing with the Legend himself, you know that.

I was looking for sharp corners too.  Is there any updates on this?

I tried using the compare and edit option for 'Make Sharp Corners', but it didn't seem to do anything.

@Anonymous

The "make sharp corners" parameter has been implemented and the fix will soon be available in an upcoming release.
