I am currently having this issue when I installed HSMWORKS 2018 in my system having Solidworks 2017 . Whenever I call for an operation (CAM) and try to generate the toolpath - immediately Some other backend windows popup and get populated and doesn't allow to work further - Please see the task manager in my video

May I know the cause and solution for this problem

Note : in the same machine I installed inventor 2018 and inventor hsm 2018 and there is no issue with it ..

You could try updating your drivers as the latest version for your card is 15.7.1, and those actually are for Windows 7 support.

Where 8.783.2.2000 is from before windows 7 was released.

8.783.2.2000 with this same version of graphics card solidworks 2017 SP3 is working so how is it not supporting for hsmworks 2018.

Please note : in the same machine inventor & inventor hsm is installed & they are working properly

is the graphic driver really an issue?

Thank you

It could be an issue.

Since the vast majority of users doesn't have this problem, it's an easy thing to try and see if it solves the issue.

remember SolidWork has their way of using graphics that Autodesk doesn't control, so once the HSMWorks adding is activated their could be conflicts between all the shared dll's that both programs use.

this becomes more prevelent as your PC get older do to hardware and drivers not supporting current releases softwares, heck could even be Windows update related

again I ask is SolidWorks and HSMWORKS the only program running or do you have others like outlook, Internet Exploder, Chrome, inventor????

and by the way AMD cards are crappy always have issues with them, Radons are gamer cards one big no no for SW

Hey @Anonymous

Welcome to Autodesk Forums.. What type of problem are you getting .. Mine was - the background windows started to pop up and blocked my screen .. For that dot net components solved my problem .. Are you getting this same issue ..

Also since you are a hsmworks user . Try other development versions of hsmworks from the below link

http://cam.autodesk.com/download/hsmworks/

Are you a subscription user of Hsmworks .. If so please install the latest version of HSMWORKS .. or else install a higher service pack of hsmworks 2016 from the above link

Please note : hsmworks 2018 will support solidworks 2016

And you should install  service pack 5 for SolidWorks, that is if you are on subscription, SP0 always has issues.

As with any software that run together if there are issues that were not there prior to updating one of them to a newer update, then issues arise, there must be some compatibility issues between them. Since SW is so graphics driven maybe your video card and how HSMWorks and SW handle the drivers.

i have never had the issues you are having, so I would update to the latest sp to try, without having you PC it's all a crap shoot

Hey @Anonymous

Are you getting the same problem which I got ??

5 things you can try here....

1. hsmworks 2018 - try the latest service pack from the development version

2. update your graphics card to the latest driver.

3. Like @lenny_1962 said update your solidworks 2016 to the latest service pack (I think it might be sp5 or sp6)

4. do a Windows update - some components will fail to update .. but restart the update several times .. also concentrate on the dot net components...

5. if all the above dont work - raise a support case thru the autodesk partner portal - some technical support person might be able to solve the problem thru remote sharing
