HSM Ultimate to Fusion Entitlement and all 2D/3D milling toolpath don't generate

Anonymous

Hello,

I recently swapped over from a HSMworks Ultimate license to a HSMworks Fusion Entitlement license. Once I had installed the new version I opened a part and tried programming. However, whenever I tried to generate a 2D or 3D milling strategy, I would get the following error "Toolpath generation failed due to an internal error". Then it spits out a log file and wants me to contact HSMworks. The weird thing is that yesterday, before I had to make the switch, the part in question generated and posted just fine. I tried reinstalling, system updates, reboots and nothing seems to work.

I run Solidworks 2019 SP2.0 with HSMworks 2021. I have attached the part file I am using and the log file it spits out when I try to generate some of the contours. If you need more information, just let me know and I will provide what I can. Thanks in advance for your help!

It sounds like HSMWorks didn't get installed properly. Did you install using the Desktop App? Can you show me what your HSMWorks About Box shows?

Hi, thanks for responding. I did not install from the desktop app but from my account on Autodesk. I do not even see that as an option on the app itself. I have posted a screenshot of both the about HSM as well as what I see when I open the desktop app. I have reinstalled HSM twice now so I am at a loss.

Thanks for that. I had a different problem in mind.

Can you tell me how you're doing the generation? Is it happening when you generate the operations individually?

I loaded this up here, and the generation is happening fine.

So I opened a part that I knew had a finished and properly generated code and then just told the program to regenerate. I did it on the individual contour (Face1, Adaptive1, and all 2D Contours) and every one will generate to where I can see the tool path but then fail and post a .dmp file with an internal error. I have also tried regenerating from the job itself as well as a couple different parts. All methods and combinations output the same thing.

My only guess would be that I need to update solidworks to the newest sp.

That would be a good next step -- at least to know if it makes a difference. I happen to be running SP5.

I just installed SP5, reinstalled HSMworks and the problem persists. I cannot generate 2D or 3D milling strategies.

I haven't read the whole post, but this sounds like the same issue I've sent you last week.

Hi Marco -

Yes, I suppose that it could be related.

Hi Marco,

I should add that I just got off a chat with an Autodesk support rep and they claim that they can not help me because I am still using windows 7. I guess that could be the problem because I went from HSMworks 2019 to HSMworks 2021 but I wish they would've given me a past version of HSMworks so I can at least get back up and running while I figure out getting Windows 10 installed.

I guess I should start asking about that. I don't have a feel for what about Windows 7 could be contributing to this, but obviously I can't rule it out.

@Marco.Takx : Is Windows 7 involved in the other case?

Hi @Marco.Takx, and @jeff.pek

Thanks for your help so far. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Most of my work involves programming so I am down and out as of right now.

Hi @jeff.pek  & @Anonymous,

Today I get a replay of Autodesk support that they can re-produce the issue and that this is now logged at development.
So 🤞🏻 that there is a solution soon.

Hi @Anonymous : Any progress to update to Windows 10?

For what it's worth, we've done some basic testing with your model in a Windows 7 environment, and don't see any issues, so I'm skeptical that there's a Win7 issue here.

I would be willing to do a screen sharing session with you to take a closer look at what you're seeing and doing. If you're up for it, give me a time range (and time zone) that could work for you this week, and I'll send you an invite.

Hi @jeff.pek,

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I must have missed the notification.

So over the weekend, I was able to upgrade to windows 10. I installed HSM and loaded up my part. Same issue, cannot generate any tool paths. If you are still willing, I would be more than happy to have you take a look during a screen sharing session. I would really appreciate it. I am in the PT time zone and will be available from 8AM to 4:30PM Monday-Friday.
